We love animals! However, in 2017 Clark County Nevada (Las Vegas) legalized poisoning, shooting and killing pigeons and made it illegal to feed them. Yes, you will go to jail for up to six months if you visit Las Vegas and try to feed our desperately starving pigeons.
So this morning, a pesticide man came to our door and informed us not to be alarmed but he will be SHOOTING THE BIRDS! Yes, shooting. Of course we went into a mild hysteria. What kind of society did we move to?! Where they shoot pigeons? The baby cannot even fly away to defend itself. How is this fair? Regardless of how you feel about birds, we think we can all agree that Las Vegas has seen a steady downturn since passing this law to kill and starve these birds in 2017. If you believe in Karma, then I’d reconsider this law if I were you! PLEASE, tweet your commissioner to make them STOP KILLING OUR BIRDS. Who knew that on that dismal afternoon in Portland, Or 2012, you would lead us such a crazy wonderful life?! Journey was playing: “A singer in a smokey room The smell of wine and cheap perfume For a smile they can share the night It goes on and on, and on”🤘 Pigeons are extremely communal creatures. They appear to be greedy when they are clabbering each other to get at the food. The reason why they do this, is they then share after they grab the food. Especially the males, like to share with the females while they are getting intimate. They swallow the item whole then, they have a grinder in their gullet which grinds the seeds and nuts into a sweet milk. Kind of like a Nutribullet. They then feed the milk like substance to each other and to the baby squabs. It’s really sweet to see Pigeons feeding each other and the young. It reminds you that even though pigeons sometimes appear to be aggressive, they are doing this to care for each other. It’s important for the males to always have extra food to feed the females, so that’s why they appear to be more aggressive than the female pigeons. The one time the female pigeons are super aggressive is, if they are a mom. It’s super sweet to see the mom get food for the baby squab. She will put her wings out and say this is for my baby to all the other birds around. She will knock them out of the way. They know not to get in the way of the feeding momma bird. Tweet your local commissioner, If you love pigeons and do not like Clark County’s law of making it illegal to feed pigeons. They are beautiful creatures. We have witnessed the most precious experience watching this baby squab grow. We have been able to observe the pigeons at such a different level, watching the family hang out. It’s so amazing to see. The baby has grown so much in over a week. Commissioner

They grow so rapidly. We have been watching for seven days since we first saw the baby. He at first looked like a little dinosaur. It was adorable. Now within seven days, he has his feathers all fluffed. He is starting to look like a mini pigeon instead of a dinosaur. Today he started walking. It’s so cool to see. He is started to walk around the nest. Mom and dad are now leaving him for extended hours to get him used to being on his own. We have now observed mom and dad having their alone time and getting intimate. It’s so sweet to see. They still keep an eye on the baby in the distance. The baby squab is looking like he is about ready to leave the nest. He is getting more and more restless. He still looks forward to his nightly cuddles with his mom. The momma bird puts herself and her feathers over her baby at night like a blanket. It’s a special site to see. We have enjoyed watching this experience so much. We cannot wait to see the baby squab learn to fly. That will be such a site to see. Stay tuned for more “Baby Pigeon Blog”. Pigeons share responsibility of the young between the mom and dad. It is so sweet to see the two of them care for their baby everyday.
They have started preening his feathers. The baby squab is starting to look like an adult pigeon. He is getting all fluffy. It is amazing to see how fast the baby pigeon grows. It unfair in Clark County that we cannot feed the pigeons. They are beautiful creatures. PREMIERS MONDAY MAR 18th 8:30AM. We will be here for Q&A.
By JediJoy:
Did you know that it is legal to poison pigeons in Clark county and illegal to feed them? Some of you may think that makes sense because of the poo and diseases. Well it does not. Pigeons do not carry diseases. This is propaganda from the pest control companies. They claim pigeons carry “Bird Flu”. Pigeons immune systems are not capable of being a carrier of this disease. These are complete fabricated lies. Clark county made a law that it’s illegal to feed pigeons. They even refer to them as “Flying Rats”. For one thing all animals are beautiful and amazing, including rats, but that’s a whole other topic. Pigeons or “rock doves” are some of the sweetest and friendliest animals. They are extremely social animals. They love hanging out in big groups. They take care of each other and the young. The whole group watches over when there squabs are hatching. The worst thing they do is poo on things, is that a reason to make it illegal to feed them, or worse poison them? Absolutely not!! What is wrong with this county. This is inhumane. In many other counties, states and even countries it is illegal to poison pigeons. It is fully legal to feed them. Opposite of Clark County. People all around the world view them as beautiful and smart creatures. Which they are extremely intelligent as well as fantastic pilots. They used them in the World Wars to carry messages. Passenger pigeons, they helped us win the wars. They were the original Tweeters on Twitter. Did you happen to notice that Twitter’s logo is a dove? They are super important to the Universe. Who gives humans the right to kill these harmless creatures. No one gives them the right. This is wrong. All they like to do is clean up scraps, fly around and chill together. Who cares if they poo. Wash the buildings. There is no reason to harm a sweet creature over poo. We all poo. Our poo goes into the environment as well. That sewage in Clark County ultimately ends up back in the water supply. Maybe we should stop feeding all the people that passed these laws and poison them for pooing? That sounds like a good idea to me. You say, oh my that’s harsh. That is no harsher than killing innocent pigeons. It is also point less to poison pigeons. When they poison pigeons all that happens, is it makes an easier environment for the remaining pigeons. There is more food for the remaining pigeons. The more food available, the more pigeons will breed. It is an unproductive and awful thing to do. It solves zero problems and just proves how terrible human beings can be. Making it illegal to feed pigeons is ridiculous and cruel. In many areas like New York, feeding pigeons is a ritual that people love. It is even legal to own pigeons in New York. So why in Nevada, in the desert are we so worried about some poo? This is unacceptable by the Universe. Pigeons care for their young, even better than most humans. Both the male and female are involved in sitting on the egg and sitting with the squab (baby pigeon) after they hatch. They sit with the squab for up to 25 days before the baby leaves the nest. They take turns feeding and sitting with the baby. The whole group around them becomes very protective of the baby squab. They keep on watch, to make sure other animals do not eat the babies. It’s a beautiful community they create. They are very loving creatures. A pair just had a baby squab at our apartments. It’s so amazing to see the two of them taking turns caring for the young. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. The male and female share the responsibility equally. We need to learn from the pigeons. Too bad more humans aren’t like this. We can learn a lot from birds. Birds see everything. It’s not a good idea to be awful to birds. They have been around longer than us. They are more intelligent than us. Just because we do not understand them, does not mean they do not understand us. They are very aware of the nice people and the awful people. We feel very honored that they decided to nest right by our place. It is rare to see a squab or a nest. Generally pigeons have their nests where no one can see them for protection. I was ecstatic to see the baby today. We will be keeping watch and getting video everyday while the squab is in the nest. A law against feeding these wonderful birds, is absolutely ridiculous. It’s only one of many crazy laws in Clark County. What a contrast to the Wild West Las Vegas used to be. This was a fun place to visit or live. Now there are so many laws. This place has become almost stricter than anywhere. We have moved a long way from the Wild West heritage. It’s insane that we are even stricter than England on wild animal laws. I was under the impression people left England and came to the Wild West to be free and have less laws. I guess times have changed. Now in the Wild West, they want to put you in jail for 6 months for feeding pigeons. This is out of control. What happened Clark County? No wonder tourism is at an all time low. This place has become all about ridiculous laws, that are not helping anyone and not encouraging people to come back if they do visit. A tourist could get arrested or fined for feeding a pigeon, or hula hooping, or the use of megaphones downtown. Yes these are real laws. Clark county used to have a law that it was illegal to feed homeless people. Even a sandwich to a homeless person could get you arrested. This eventually was deemed unconstitutional by a federal judge. Maybe a federal judge could deem poisoning pigeons and making it illegal to feed them unconstitutional as well. Let’s get these awful laws undone. This is animal cruelty. I love pigeons. I view this as, that they are killing my friends. Clark County please reconsider this law, it is inhumane!! |
