Credit checks & background checks should be a thing of the past. Your best employees think outside the box. Your superstars take action outside the box. Wall Street traders, investment bankers, venture catalysts and sharks are constantly seeking to find those rule breakers.
background checks, credit checks and other investigative metrics will weed out your most creative and inventive thinkers. You have to wonder, did anyone ever tell these people that you should not judge a book by its cover.
Businesses that deny applicants based on credit checks or criminal history are only hiring the most feeble minded, order-taking, drone-like workers. Businesses need 2 sets of rules: One set for their hourly employees and one for their creative thinkers (management).
When you deny an applicant due to a bad credit report or a criminal report, then you are judging a book by its cover. Just because someone got a DUI 10 years ago does not mean that person is less of an employee than someone who never got caught. Often, a person who never gets caught will rectify their problems; whereas a person who never gets caught will fester in their problems.
Depending on the position, not everyone of your employees should be a feeble minded, rule following, ordertaking, drone. As the owner or a boss, you will go fucking nuts surrounded by these types of morons. Who cares if they have a 4.0 and an 800 credit score and they have never taken a risk?
I’d rather stand scarred & broken with the warriors who chose to climb the steepest mountain instead of walking like sheep who “follow the leader” down the easiest, paved road.
