Happy Memorial Day
My Great-Great-Grandfather was a Terrorist
Happy Memorial Day! If you’re new to this world (if you’re under 30) know that my grandfathers father had to fight off the British and the French and the Spanish so that we could be freed from their religious and governmental oppression.
Funny story and the motivation for this US Historically correct song.
Only 200 years ago (that’s your grandfathers father), in the Winter of 1814, the Queen of England 🏴 ordered her Royal Navy to invade Louisiana. As we know, it’s really swampy down there but they had the “brilliant” idea to dig a canal to sail their huge 🚢 ships through to get to New Orleans. They got stuck and they were sitting ducks.
Also, the British established the Rules of War which meant you had to play bugles and drums and line up and wait until you hear the word fire. The American mthought that was ummm... dumb so they hid behind trees and cotton bales and listened for their loud marching band.
After surrendering in 1815, the British Parliament declared American’s style of warfare as “terrorism” because we didn’t play bugles or wait until the colonel yelled “FIRE”.
So yes, my great, great grandfather was a terrorist according to the British.
