September 11th, 2001 Jedi Joy heard a calling to join the U.S. Air Force. The images of the twin towers collapsing affected her deeply. The problem? She had graduated high school one year early. She was only 17. She needed her mother's approval. Her mother was in the military and was adamant that Jedi Joy go to college with her sister instead. If you know Jedi Joy, then you know that when she get something in her mind, you cannot convince otherwise,. Against her mother's Jedi Joy joined the U.S. Air Force at age 17. She had her step-mom sign. Three years later, Jedi Joy's mom committed suicide with gunshot to the heart.
Jedi Joy was a stellar airmen. Decorated, served in combat and Airmen of the Year. Why didn't she re- enlist after her mother died? Because Jedi Joy was a female rock star, she had many men (and other women) always trying to sabotage her. When her "brothers-in-arms' found out Jedi Joy's mother had killed herself, they knew they could get her grounded by telling the commanders she was suicidal. And that's exactly what happened.
