Today is Father’s Day. The Jedi do not celebrate holidays what so ever. We have found that in this day and age, holidays have become all about consumerism and greed. We choose to not partake in things like that. Now holidays are sold back to us by the consumerism market.
At the grocery store, you will notice how apparent holidays are only about buying selling. Have you ever noticed that after one holiday is over, they immediately start bringing out all the useless nonsense gifts and decorations for the next holiday. Holidays make companies a lot of money. It’s been this way since the 1920s. That’s when Hallmark started the concept of getting rich off holidays with greeting Cards. Now there are billions of companies that are making billions of dollars from holidays.
Another reason why holidays can be a real pain to a lot of people is if you have lost a parent or are estranged from a parent. Not everyone has a fantastic relationship with their parents. Holidays are a great reminder of that if you have family issues. Every year it seems like there is another holiday for something new. I see online things like National Pizza and Ice Cream day. Those are not observed holidays, but you see how it can get out of hand with all these national celebrations.
People say well we love to get together. Then awesome, do that, but a mandated time to hang out with your parent seems unnecessary and very controlling to me. The government should not mandate a day to honor your parents. You should honor your parents as you feel and when you feel is the appropriate time, not a day already scheduled for a year in advance on a calendar.
My mom committed suicide and JediRich’s dad died of cancer. We do not particularly enjoy being harassed about if we reached out to our parents. I would almost lose it on every Mother’s Day, when I worked mainstream jobs. People would incessantly hound did you call your mom, did you get her a gift and so and so. Most of the time you sluff it off and try to avoid having to say my mom killed herself. So holding back the tears I would either say of course or if I couldn’t hold back the tears then I would say my mom passed away.
JediRich and I are not the only people that have lost loved ones. The mandatory uniform holidays and events never take into account people that do not fit into the cookie cutter mainstream existence with a living mom and dad. Every holiday you are reminded you are different if your family doesn’t fit the classic Father, Mother and children scenario. See these holidays continue to promote the concept of monogamy. You will be an outcast at social events, If you are not in the monogamous society.
These holidays have lost the original reason for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. It was to honor the mother and fathers that had passed. That is what the original lady Anna Jarvis made the idea about. Now it’s about what you got your dad or mom and what restaurant you ate at or if you made a phone call. It’s lost the essence of honoring the dead.
On another important note. The Raiders Stadium experienced some hiccups the last month. We had not been visiting the stadium as often, so we missed the fact that they have not lifted a truss in over a month. In fact the crew had to take down a truss. This caused a huge month long delay over this truss situation. They were trying to figure out how to get it secured without having to remove it.
That did not happen, so unfortunately on Thursday, June 13th, they had to take the truss back down to fix it on the ground. They had experienced some issues with fastening this truss to the roof. There are so many working parts, pieces and crews doing different pieces of the project. So every group has to be considered when making decisions. A lot of the projects rely on one part to be done for the next to proceed and so forth. There was a lot of meetings to make sure they made the best decision for the entire crew.
This setback may require a third shift. From what I have heard they are about to have more people on the night shift. I am not sure if there will be more people added when they change the shifts or if the timing is just changing. I’m getting the impression they might have to up the hours to get this done in 410 days. That is the official counter as of 8 am today June 16th. They are getting a little to close for comfort.
Today they were able to lift the truss that was brought back down. They for now have come up with a solution for the truss. Let’s keep our fingers crossed this one holds. If so, then they have three more trusses that are ready to be lifted this week.
They also have started bringing in the glass for the exterior. Once the trusses are up, they can really start flying on the glass for the exterior of the stadium. We will keep everyone posted on updates as we hear and see them. Keep checking on JediRich.com “Stadium Updates” for current news.
The Jedi would like to officially Welcome O.J. Simpson to Twitter. A lot of people have some really strong opinions about O.J. That is fine to have your opinions, but I challenge you to open up your mind. Look at how you feel now about him, do not go off of past judgments from the 90s. Whether you believe O.J. is innocent or guilty is irrelevant. Examine how you feel right now.
Ok, now that you thought about it. How do you feel? If you still hate him, then you have not grown. That was 25 years ago. How many other deaths or murders have occurred since then? The number is astronomical. That’s because people die everyday. We send tons of troops to go murder and die for our country everyday for the last 30+ years we have been continually without stop at war.
If you condone war, then, who the hell are you to judge O.J. I was in the military, so I have a right to say that. I feel bad that I signed up for a war organization. Luckily I did not have to kill anyone, but if I had I would not think I was a better person than O.J. Simpson. So watch your judgments less you be judged. Isn’t that what they teach you all in church? I know they do because I was raised Christian.
My mom thought O.J. was guilty and she was mad he did not get punished. That is how she viewed it as a Christian Youth Pastor in 1994. Not to judge my mom, she is on the other side and feels bad about that. She now realizes that she was a hypocrite to ever judge O.J. He has not done any greater sin than any one of us. You have your head in the sand or firmly planted up your ass, If you are being belligerent with old thinking.
