Sugar & caffeine addiction addiction is real. Sugar & caffeine consumption in humans has drastically changed over the past 50 years. Once only for children, mass amounts of caffeine, sugar (and sugar substitutes) are now consumed in every meal & beverage. Children are now drinking caffeine & adults consume dairy throughout their entire adult life. Sugar and dairy were meant to be consumed by children. Caffeine was almost never allowed to be consumed by kids.
Blood Sugar Levels (BSLs) Determine Your Mood
Jedi advocate healthy living. We stopped consuming caffeine & dairy (goodbye Starbucks), alcohol (goodbye bars & clubs), sugar & sugar substitutes (goodbye fun food), GMOs (goodbye restaurants), & gluten (goodbye breads & pastas). We stopped consuming anything that would raise our blood sugar levels. The reason we included sugar substitutes is because your body recognizes artificial sweeteners (ie stevia) from as sugar. When excess sugar is detected in your blood stream, the brain tells the body to release insulin. Insulin is makes you fat, irritable, & edgy . Anything you eat that produces insulin will result in your mood changing negatively.
Sugar isn't actually bad for you; everything breaks down to sugar. Sugar is the primary source of fuel for humans (and plants & animals). However, adding sugar to your body in the form of fruit, beverages, artificial sweeteners, carbohydrates, alcohol, dextrose, fructose, galactose, glucose, lactose (dairy), maltose, sucrose, beet sugar, brown sugar, cane juice crystals, cane sugar, castor sugar, coconut sugar, agave nectar syrup, barley malt, blackstrap molasses, brown rice syrup, caramel, carob syrup, corn syrup, evaporated cane juice, etc. etc. etc, results in your brain telling your pancreas to produce insulin. Insulin its a hormone that instructs your body do the following:
Why do Sugar Substitutes & Caffeine Make You Fat?
Caffeine increases your heart rate, but your metabolism is determined by your hypothalamus system. Rather than making you lose weight, caffeine gives you a temporary boost of euphoria by raising your blood sugar level (BSL) that is immediately followed by insulin production. Insulin production tells you body to store sugar as fat & makes you tired. After about 20 minutes of drinking coffee, you will feel the effects off insulin. You will feel tired, sluggish, irritable & probably hungry. BONUS: once you're addicted, Pavlov's dog is in effect. Just the thought or picture or smell of coffee is enough for your brain to preemptively release insulin.
The same goes for sweets. When you add artificial sweeteners that are 100 times sweeter than sugar, your brain reacts accordingly with mass amounts of insulin production. When you are addicted to sugar, just the photo or thought of a white creamed cupcake, melted mud pie rownies, or cinnamon rolls filled with warm caramel are enough for your brain to start insulin production.
How do you know if you're addicted to sugar & caffeine?
Do you literally get "excited"at the thought of meeting someone for Starbucks?
When you see a photo of a food, do you want to eat it? Even if it's unhealthy?
Are you tired, depressed and sluggish? But the thought of coffee or a desert "treat" excites you?
Do you over eat meals because you think "I'm goin to the gym tomorrow to burn it off"? That's another form of binge eating disorder.
