Las Vegas's number #1 export is construction. They do not care if a project is viable. They just keep selling new projects to unsuspecting investors.
The local media, bloggers and newspapers heavily rely on the casinos and construction companies for sponsorship. In fact, the local newspaper is actually owned and operated by the Las Vegas Sands. This is the same newspaper the publishes the "Best of Las Vegas". The real journalists quit when the LV Sands brought the paper in 2015. But not until they blew the whilstle on Sheldon Adelson.
People want to believe what they want to believe. Las Vegas sells the idea that "if you build it, they will come". This was not true at the Lucky Dragon, the Palms, the Fountainbleu, the Drew or the new J.W. Marriot on Las Vegas Blvd. The county & the city work in connection with the media to persuade tourists, visitors, Wall street investors to buy into Las Vegas. Everyone who lives in Vegas is in on the scam. In fact, the Allegiant Stadium is being paid for by tourists, not locals. The locals reused to pay a dime. The Las Vegas Review Journal had to be purchased by a casino in 2015 to get the football stadium passed . Of course, no one knows that the Las Vegas Review Journal is owned by the Venetian because the LV Sands would have a hard time selling their latest copies of "The Best of Vegas"
