Diet, health and nutrition are most important to The Jedi. When traveling or moving to a new place, the concern for Jedi is: where do we get food & water. When we arrived, there was a curfew in effect. It was a challenge to get food & water. Jedi Joy walks to Riba Smith in Panama City for the BEST beef.
WEEK 1: We made it. But with all the changes to International traveling, getting into Panama City was not a simple task. Panama's International Airport, Tocumen International, shut down on March 26th 2020. No one has been able to enter or leave the country in over 7 months. The Jedi were one of the first travelers to re-enter Panama when the airport reopened on October 12th, 2020. In order to enter the country, one must present a negative COVID Test that was taken within 96 hours of travel. Lab results in Nevada take uo to 7 days. There were a few CVS' that offered a rapid screen swab drive thru that will et you results within 48 hours. But that cuts ti close. We had to go twice because of a flight change. When we got to Panama City, the report that CVS provides excludes the patients name. Further, you need an internet connection in order to show the results. In a foreign country, your data chip may not immediately work. Ours did not work., So we bought a $30 Claro chip at an airport Vending machine. After we purchased the chip, an airport employee warned guys the machine is a scam. He was right. The $30 chip had zero minutes. Then the driver took us to the wring park of town even though we showed him on the GPS where the Torres Del Mar Sur was located. He acted as if he was mad at us. We eventually got to our apartment early Sunday morning at around 1 am. Curfew are still in effect in Panama City. No one is allowed outside after 11pm and on Sundays. We brought a can of organic beans and some organic beef franks. Fortunately, they had delivery drivers delivering food on Sundays. They even had an option to donate a plate for $6,00 to someone who needs it,. We donated a plate, oof course. Up Next: Getting food & water during in a foreign country when everything is CLOSED.
Jedi Joy is so exited! The pool is open at our apartment in Panama City, Panama. In fact, everything is reopening day by day. Everyday we see more and more activity on the streets. This was quite an adventure to get to Panama. There are so many security checkpoints post COVID. Here's our journey to Miami. Next, I will post our travels to Panama. Panama's New COVID ScreenThis was the first weekend Panama has international flights since March 26th, 2020, nearly 7 months ago. American Airlines began flying into Panama City on October 15th. The Jedi were one of the first people to enter Panama with Panama's new COVID screen procedures in place. We arrived on Saturday. Before you reach Panamanian Customs, you must meet a health care worker. The health care worker asked us if we had a COVID test result taken with the past 96 hours. If we did not have a COVID screen, she would send us back to a room where they perform a COVID test. If you have negative test results, then you pass to the next section. This section is where they inspect your documents. We had out tests done at CVS. This is where the Jedi ran into a problem. We had to download & log into the app to see the results. Once inside the CVS MyChart App, it does not put the patients name. It just says negative or positive. "A report with no name can be a easily forged," said the customs agent in Spanish. However, Jedi Joy was able to show him where the and an image of her drivers license in the app and the agent waived us through.
