4K Las Vegas Raiders Stadium Video Update Premiers 3/26/2019 at 9am PDT As of March 21st 2019, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the Las Vegas Stadium’s completion date has been pushed back to August 4, 2020. Originally it was set to be completed in June, then July 2020. Now the new date is August 4, 2020. They need to meet this date or super close to it, for the season start in September 2020.
Any more delays could be a serious problem for the completion. This has been a crazy weather year. We had several days of snow in Las Vegas. We had more rain this month than expected. It’s been very windy, which is common. All of these things affect the flow. Mortenson/McCarthy are all about safety. They do not operate machinery over certain conditions of too much wind or rain. They have zero work injuries or mishaps. These huge cranes cannot be carrying massive structures if it is super windy in Las Vegas. All of these things were accounted for when they bid for this stadium. Although, I’m not sure they had not accounted for snow days in the desert. I think that one caught us all off guard. Snow days in the desert, who would have thought? There were many contractors that wanted this project. Companies had to bid to be a part of this stadium. Executives had to meet to figure out who got which part of the plan. All of those projects get a budget, from the steel crew, to the concrete crew to the design crew, etc, Everyone had to bid for their part. Which means there is already a set amount of money. Any delays or extra crew needed will have to come out of someone’s pocket. Everyone is trying to stay within budget. The Raiders stadium construction was a sought after project. So the best bid won the deal. That means they are on a tight budget. It’s super important for Mortenson/McCarthy to finish this project on time, so that they do not have to have more workers working. They have to weigh out when is the time to start a third shift; or if a third shift is necessary to finish. As of now they are on course for completion of August 4, 2020. The budgeted 1.9 Billion dollars for this project is where everyone wants it to remain. If it is not completed on time, then it will cost another 10.5 million dollars to rent the Oakland Stadium for another year. The crew would need more money to finish the project. It could get very expensive fast. This would be detrimental to Las Vegas. We are looking forward to having the Raiders come in 2020. This could affect a lot of businesses that are banking on the Raiders Nation. We are hoping that everyone is making the wisest decisions, so that the Raiders make it to Las Vegas for the 2020 Season. We are looking forward to keeping everyone updated on the progress. Article March 21, 2019 SF Chronicle: LAS VEGAS (AP) — The partially tax-funded stadium that will become the home of the Oakland Raiders in Las Vegas in 2020 has recently faced delays with the delivery of steel components. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports substantial completion of the venue has been pushed back by less than a week to Aug. 4, 2020. The facility would host its first event soon after. In addition to the delivery issues, a report by an independent construction monitor hired by the stadium's oversight board released Thursday says site visits revealed that "steel components that should have been completed have not yet been erected or detailed." There has been a lot of talk going back and forth about the completion date for the Raiders Stadium. The original date was supposed to be in June 2020. Now for awhile, the Raiders and Mortenson/McCarthy were saying July 31, 2020. Now the completion date has been moved to August 4, 2020. This is two days before the pre-season game. So it is going to be a super tight schedule.
After we mentioned that the stadium was going to be delayed. People were in an uproar. We could clearly see that the stadium construction had been set back with the weather. There are several tresses that where supposed to be lifted last week. We went all week to check if they were lifted. They still are not up. There has been a huge crew working hard to get caught up. Everyone is moving faster than they were in the beginning of the project. We mentioned a delay last week. They sent an inspector this week, the stadium is delayed. They are off of their original projections. They now are having to consider if it’s time to go to a third shift or if they will be able to complete it with the current crew for the new completion date of August 4, 2020. We are all looking forward to the finish and super excited to have the Raiders in Las Vegas.
This week they will be lifting some of the steel parts that were assembled on the ground. These parts weigh about 130,000 lbs. They will use the massive cranes to move these parts. These cranes are the biggest cranes we have ever had in Nevada. The amount of concrete and steel for this project is jaw dropping. They say that they could create a sidewalk across the country with the amount of concrete used for this project. There is so much steel used as a well. They have two other locations that house the extra steel. They bring it to the stadium as needed. One of those locations is at the truck stop at Wild West Casino. These steel and concrete guys are some of the best in the country. Mortenson and McCarthy are the best in the country for Stadium construction. The Raiders specifically wanted to hire them. They loved the work they did on the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. They are in such high demand, that they had to wait till they were available for this project. They are doing such a fantastic job. They are all about safety. They have zero work injuries or mishaps. They pride themselves in keeping it this way. When you go to the stadium, you can clearly see that everyone is adhering to the safety rules. This stadium is very exciting for Las Vegas. This is the first stadium since Sam Boyd, which is much smaller and older. Sam Boyd is not even big enough for NFL regulation field. The UNLV Rebels will be using this stadium as well for their college events. There will be a lot of events held at this stadium including, Super Bowl, Pro Bowl, NFL Draft, PAC 12 Football Championship game, NCAA Final Four, UFC, concerts and many more. Las Vegas is extremely excited to welcome the Black and Silver to the Silver state. As Mark Davis (owner of the Raiders) said “Together we can turn the Silver State into the silver and black state.” A couple years ago Nevada did not even have a pro team. Now they have three, hockey, woman’s basketball and now football!! It will be fun to be able to bet on a game right before you walk in the stadium. This was the concern of the NFL, that cheating would be encouraged with gambling legal in the state. Since you can now bet online in many states, they finally decided to let Nevada have an NFL team. We are all so excited. The stadium sits on a 62+ acre lot that is built into the ground. This was necessary since the airport is right by the stadium. They had to make sure it was out of the fly zone. There will be a cutting edge roof. The roof will be made from a material that lets the light in, but keeps the heat out. This is super important in the hot desert. There will be an open window to the strip. It will have retractable window shades. The stadium’s address is super simple 3333 Al Davis Way. In memory of the late owner Al Davis. There will also be a statue of him in the front holding a torch. This footage is rare footage of the construction. Pretty soon the exterior will be added and we will not be able to see into the stadium as much. They will be working on the interior in the last several months. If you live in Las Vegas, go check it our, before it’s completely done. If you don’t live in Las Vegas, then I hope you enjoy this video. Will Premier Sunday, March 17th 6am
On Thursday March 7, 2019, we went to the stadium two times that day. We went once at 03:21 in the morning, so that everyone could get a perspective of what the inside of the stadium looks like. It’s hard to see inside during the sunny days. You can see the stadium is really coming along. They have completed a lot of the inside. The bleachers are almost done. You can clearly see the three levels of bleachers now.
They have done so much progress the last week. They have caught up, from getting behind over the rain and snow days we had in Las Vegas. If you live in Las Vegas, you can clearly see the stadium from the freeway. At first it was hard to see what was going on from the freeway since the stadium is built into the ground. Now you can see that this is definitely the Raiders stadium when you drive by. Since the stadium is by the airport, they had to dig into the ground to make sure the stadium did not go into the fly zone. The stadium would be even taller, but then it would be a conflict with the planes flying over. When you go on the South side on Russell Road, you can see how deep they dug into this location to put the stadium. If you drive by the Stadium on Dean Martin Drive or Polaris Ave, please do not stop to take pictures. Please park and walk. The security has been asking people to park at the Terrible’s Chevron on Russell Road and Polaris Ave and then walk. Cars that stop to take pictures cause traffic jams and even potentially accidents. While we were there a man stopped on Russell Road, put his hazard lights on, and got out of the car. He almost got rear ended and caused a traffic jam. This is not what the Raiders want. They want everyone to be safe. It’s a really nice walk if you walk around the stadium. I recommend that if you get a chance, head down there. This is a once in a lifetime project. How many times do you get to see an NFL stadium built in your lifetime? It will not be long before the structure on the outside will come up and you will not get to see all the construction occurring. We are almost a year away from finish now. It will be completed in May 2020. It’s a site to see when you head down there. I personally love checking out all the equipment. The cranes are the coolest cranes I’ve ever seen. In person, you will be blown away by the size of these cranes. You also lose perspective of the size of the stadium until you see it next to a person. This is a huge project. Mortenson/McCarthy are doing an amazing job. This is the cleanest construction site, I’ve ever seen. Go check it out if you live here. If you do not live here, then come back to JediRich.com for updates. We will keep posting videos and updates till the stadium is complete. This is the Raiders Stadium as of March 1st, 2019. There was a huge storm last week in Las Vegas, 3 days of snow. This caused the project to get a little behind schedule. Now they are on double time to get done by May 2020.
We have never seen so many people working at one time on the stadium. They were so busy that were actual traffic jams with the equipment. They are on full crew mode till the completion. It is crazy to see how many projects going on at the same time. Everyone has their part of the cog of this wheel. The cranes do the heavy lifting. It’s interesting to see the basic tools that are used to make this huge stadium for most of the work. You can get the tools from your local hardware store. You see the guys sledge hammering on the cranes four stories high. It’s an intense job. They clearly have no fear of heights. Can you say “Hazard Pay” much? This is the first time we saw some disgruntled workers. Usually they are super excited about working on this project. Since they got behind, anxiety is at an all time high. A couple guys were mad that JediRich gets to take photos. They said how come I have to slave over this project and you get to walk around taking pics. They changed their tune once they found out how much less money JediRich makes as a photographer versus them. Other guys were complaining that they were working so hard, that occasionally they get a break from their slave jobs. It was definitely a different attitude then we have seen in the past. Everyone is on double, triple time to get this project done. They have high incentives, because it would cost Raiders an additional 10.5 million to play in Oakland again. They seem to be getting back on track now. It looks like they will get it done by 2020. This is a once in a lifetime project. I recommend checking it out if you live in Las Vegas. Whether you are a football fan or not, this is a fun site to see. How often to you get to witness an NFL stadium being built in your backyard. We make these videos for those who aren’t in Las Vegas, so you can experience the process as well. It is going to be a beautiful stadium. |
