Stadium Exterior: Looking Like a Stadium

Stadium Updates

By: Jedi Joy Lightowler

The Las Vegas Raiders Stadium is on course to open in 2020. The crew has been flying putting up the remaining trusses. The stadium is starting to come into full form in front of our eyes. It’s quite a site to see. The energy down at the stadium is fantastic.

We went down there and right away I was taken back by how complete it is looking. They have enclosed almost the entire backside with iron. Pretty soon you won’t be able to see the progress on the inside. Nows the time to check it out. They are getting so close to the finish of the exterior part. After that they will be working on the inside.

We wanted to do a Then and Now to show everyone how much progress has occurred in the last year. We went so often that I forgot how much they completed in one year. They had not even started the iron part till this year. I was shocked to see the photos again. Mortenson/McCarthy are a top notch construction company. I am so impressed with the way they have handled this project.

We are starting the JediJoyRichShow Podcast. We are looking forward to talking more about the Raiders as updates come in. We will be talking about all sorts of things about entertainment, love and life. We will let you know when we are talking about Raiders for all you Raider fans out there.

9th and 10th Trusses Up

This week was a great week for the stadium crew. We had fantastic weather. They were able to put up several trusses this week. You can really start to see the design coming through. You can now clearly see the front open window. You can see the shape of the roof coming together. The roof will lay on top of the trusses.

JediRich has been getting the lactic acid out of his muscles the last couple weeks. He has some old injuries that are finally heeling now with Organics and Cannabis. JediJoy went to the stadium the last four times by herself. She took the footage and filmed herself. JediRich did all the editing and music production.

I (JediJoy) had so much fun learning the camera and creating my stadium art. I am looking forward to having JediRich come on the next adventure. It’s a lot of work on my own. It was super fun though. While I was there I got a couple shout outs from the crew. They were like there’s the Jedi. Which feels great that the crew is watching our videos.

We want to show the world what an amazing job this crew is doing. This is such a clean and organized construction site. Every time I go, people are working hard. It’s not like the stereotype where you hear that people are standing around on a construction site. It’s the complete opposite here. Everyone is always working hard and efficiently.

We have been documenting this stadium since the minute they decide this location. We went down to take pics as soon as they had a sign welcoming the Raiders. They have now removed that sign. It was on the corner of Russell and Polaris. We were so excited about getting the opportunity to document the building of this stadium.

They have come along way. When you look at the old pics, you can clearly see what a difference they have made on that lot. To start they had to dig so deep. When we first saw this project they had not even started breaking ground on excavation. We used to walk by when they first started the excavation. It feels like such a long time ago now.

It’s amazing how much Force and energy this stadium is creating in that area. You can feel the massive force when you walk there. There is a ton of steel which makes a difference to the site. You can actually feel a force pushing away from the stadium now. It’s actually harder to walk due to all the steel. It’s an interesting phenomenon to witness.

We can see the stadium from our place. It’s so fun to see all the cranes. I have thoroughly enjoyed this whole process. I’m glad that we have been able to share this journey with the fans all over the world. You do not get to witness an NFL stadium being built everyday.

I believe the stadium is back on course if not ahead of time for the opening in 2020. The actual date is still a little up in the air to me. It will be between July 31st to August 4th, 2020. We are so excited to see the first crowds for the pre-season games. JediRich and I will go down and take video and photos of the tail gaters. That will be a fantastic time.

JediJoy Videos Solo as JediRich recovers from an injury

Special thanks to John McCrea of CAKE MUSIC.
And thank you JediJoy! I injured my back this week and I’ve been nearly paralyzed see my post on “Candida back fat and muscle pains.”

I (JediJoy), went on two solo Raider Stadium photo adventures. JediRich pulled a muscle in his back and has been healing up with Cannabis and his tens massager. I had so much fun. The stadium is coming along beautifully.

On the first day, they were working on a bunch of the trusses. They have been cruising along. On the second day, they lifted another one. I noticed while I was there that they brought in another crane. This one was called a Barnhart Crane. It was massive.

I spoke to the gentleman that was the specialist there with the crane. I asked him how much this Barnhart crane could lift. He told me a million pounds. That is the new orange one that goes across the front of the stadium. They are using this one to help lift the trusses. This will also help to eventually lift the roof on the top of the trusses.

I noticed that they have completed a lot of the concrete on the east side bleachers. These are the away team bleachers. They will be sitting with their backs to the strip. The home team will be facing towards the strip. They have come a long way in a couple weeks.

I am hearing that they have gotten caught up and that the stadium is on course if not hopefully opening a couple days early. We will keep you all posted as it gets closer. For now, we are going into the hot season for Las Vegas. Luckily the crew adjusted their hours last year when we kept tweeting. So when it’s close to 120 degrees or more, the crew starts early like around 2 am, then they get off before it’s too insanely hot out there.

It is super important coming into the summer season for the crew to stay hydrated. Mortenson/McCarthy have set up watering and cooling stations. If you start to overheat, you can go cool off. They make sure that everyone is staying on top of their hydration. This crew is all about safety. They don’t want even one person to get hurt or injured on their projects. Zero mishaps or injuries.

This is the time to check out the stadium if you live in Las Vegas. It is getting harder to see the inside as they build the walls around the outside. It’s a great time to go check out all the crew working on the cranes. It’s a site to see. Their are so many huge cranes and the smaller ones that lift the crew all day long. It feels very alien like out there with all the amazing machinery.

The crew appears to be in great spirits right now. Everyone I talked to is very positive about the project. One interesting event happened while I was filming. That was when the Raiders security guard asked if I was with the Review Journal. I said no, then she said I was okay to stay. I am sensing there is some tension going on between the press and the stadium. This is most likely stemming from all the back and forth of the opening date a couple weeks back.

Stay tuned for more updates.
