Truss at Las Vegas Stadium Came Back Down after 6 weeks
LAS V EGAS, NV: The Raiders Stadium experienced some hiccups the last month. We had not been visiting the stadium as often, so we missed the fact that they have not lifted a truss in over a month. In fact the crew had to take down a truss. This caused a huge month long delay over this truss situation. They were trying to figure out how to get it secured without having to remove it.
That did not happen, so unfortunately on Thursday, June 13th, they had to take the truss back down to fix it on the ground. They had experienced some issues with fastening this truss to the roof. There are so many working parts, pieces and crews doing different pieces of the project. So every group has to be considered when making decisions. A lot of the projects rely on one part to be done for the next to proceed and so forth. There was a lot of meetings to make sure they made the best decision for the entire crew.
This setback may require a third shift. From what I have heard they are about to have more people on the night shift. I am not sure if there will be more people added when they change the shifts or if the timing is just changing. I’m getting the impression they might have to up the hours to get this done in 410 days. That is the official counter as of 8 am today June 16th. They are getting a little to close to comfort.
Today they were able to lift the truss that was brought back down. They for now have come up with a solution for the truss. Let’s keep our fingers crossed this one holds. If so, then they have three more trusses that are ready to be lifted this week. They also have started bringing in the glass for the exterior. Once the trusses are up, they can really start flying on the glass for the exterior of the stadium. We will keep everyone posted on updates as we hear and see them. Keep checking back for more updates.
